<sub>One of the best services around is the complementary Vessel Safety Check from the US Power Squadron.

Our marina hosts an event where members of our local chapter complete an assessment of a boat’s seaworthiness.  In addition to external safety items such as appropriate lifejackets they check basic equipment, too such as lights and horns.

Upon a successful completion your boat receives a sticker.  It’s a great way to promote safe boating and to find some minor and even major safety issues with your boat before something bad happens.

If you don’t have a Power Squadron in your area, check with your local water enforcement to see if they know who completes Vessel Safety Checks in your area.  It’s time well spent.</sub>
