Memorial Day Weekend is here, and with it comes the unofficial start of summer on Lake Minnetonka! From hometown parades to dockside brunch, Tonka is alive with tradition, sunshine, and sparkling water energy.

Here’s your weekend guide to what’s happening around the lake — from Wayzata to Excelsior, Mound, and Spring Park.

MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONIES & TRADITIONS

WAYZATA
Monday, May 26

• Pancake Breakfast – 8:00–11:00 AM at the Wayzata American Legion (open to the public!)

• Memorial Day Ceremony – 10:00 AM at Heritage Park (next to the library)

  • Featuring the Wayzata American Legion, military honors, local dignitaries, and a community choir.

EXCELSIOR
Monday, May 26

• Memorial Day Parade – Starts at 10:00 AM

  • Route: Water Street → Oak Street → Minnetonka Blvd

  • Includes vintage cars, veterans, scouts, and more.

• Ceremony at Oak Hill Cemetery – Immediately following the parade

  • Includes a rifle salute and performance by the Minnetonka High School Band.

MOUND
Monday, May 26

• Parade & Ceremony – Parade begins at 10:00 AM from Grandview Blvd near the American Legion

  • Ends at Mound Union Cemetery for a traditional ceremony with speakers, music, and a tribute to local veterans.
